Homemade Moisturizing Facial Mask

There is one interesting substance which you can use in the homemade moisturizing facial mask. This is glycerin. It is widely used in the cosmetic industry as a moisturizer. Glycerin is added to soaps, creams and lotions. You can buy it at any pharmacy.

Glycerin is used to function as ingredient for attracting water. It is poorly absorbed and forms a thin film that helps preserve the humidity necessary for our skin.

You need to know some general glycerin properties for successful using in hydrating facial masks.

Glycerol in high concentrations (greater than 50%) is hygroscopic, which one is able to take moisture away. Therefore, it is necessary to use it in small quantities and diluted with cold water (1:1) before adding to the mask.
