Types of Acne You Need to Know
Acne is a universal problem, we all have it at some point in life. Everybody has it but it is also common that everyone’s acne may be different. There are many different types of acne and some of them only appear at some point. In this article, you will find some types of acne, so you know the type of the one you have right now and be able to resolve it. Here are the common types of acne:
Acne vulgaris
This is one a common type of acne, including blockage and irritation of hair follicles and their associated sebaceous gland. Acne vulgaris can present itself as non-inflammatory or inflammatory lesions, or even both, attacking mostly the face area but can also affect the back and chest because of a dense number of sebaceous follicles.
Furthermore acne vulgaris is commonly characterized by non-inflammatory comedones and by inflammatory papules and pustules. Comedones are small white(or dark) bumps on your skin, a collection of sebum and dead skin that are stuck in the openings of follicles. A comedo may be open (blackhead) or closed (Whitehead). This type of acne can happen not only on the face but also on the body and can be very mild or quite severe.
Cystic acne
This type of acne is a severe one of acne vulgaris. There is a lot of inflammation there, the size is quite large, and also painful. Cysts formed on our skin deeper than a typical pimple, it takes several weeks to heal, and cause a lot of harm to the skin.
Acne rosacea
This type of acne is different and has nothing to do with acne vulgaris, but sometimes it is hard to distinguish from it. Acne rosacea is only appearing in the center of the face (nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin) and unlike the other types of acne that appear in the puberty age, rosacea usually doesn’t appear before age 30. Interestingly, rosacea is more common in women and men tend to develop more serious forms and if it isn’t treated, it can grow more severe, the redness and bumpiness become more serious.
The causes rosacea are not clear yet, but some of the triggers include spicy foods, sun exposure, alcohol, extreme hot or cold weather and finally emotional stress, which is a major trigger.
Acne cosmetica
Face products like makeup, moisturizers, creams and even some hair products can cause this type of acne. Acne cosmetica is a type of comedonal acne. You need to stop using a certain cosmetic and hair product to see if there is any improvement. If you see improvement, then it is time to change a product.
Excoriated acne
We are tempted to pop a pimple and most people have given in to the temptation at some occasions. Popping the acne actually, can severely damage the skin tissue and spread the acne if we do that frequently. People with severe excoriated acne is usually the people who cannot control their urge to scratch their face and pop some. This constant squeezing and popping are causing open sores. The bacteria spreads over creating new pimple and lead them to more picking, creating a vicious cycle.
Acne Mechanica
This type of acne is caused by the excess of heat, friction or pressure on the skin. This is commonly appearing on the body but can appear on the face as well. Acne Mechanica is common in young athletes because of their helmets, pads or sweat bands that trap heat and rubs against their skin for a pretty long time. A mild form of this acne can clear itself when the trigger is taken away.
Acne conglobata
Usually appears in male, it’s the most severe kind of acne. Conglobata is characterized by some large lesions interconnected over the face. Conglobata type is known to cause serious skin damage and scarring if not treated.

Tomato Face Wash Mask
Facial masks for acne should contain ingredients with antibacterial properties. We can use honey for that purpose.
- Peel tomato. Cut it in half. Chop one half. A hand blender can help. It turns tomato into the juice.
- You can remove the skin from the tomato before, it depends on you. I always do it.
- Mix tomato juice with honey.
- Mixture appears with thin viscosity. It’s difficult to apply it onto the face.
- Add the wheat flour. This will make the mixture more thick.
- Flour also will act as a gentle scrub.
If you’ve read already any my recipes you have to know that I would like to add tea tree aromatic oil. That is an excellent tool for pimply skin. Safely add 3-4 drops in the mask if you like oil and if you are not allergic to it.
- Smear mask on the face by gently circular movements of the fingers.
- Do not use force to prevent tearing of acne and spreading the infection.
- Allow the mask to treat your skin for 20 minutes.
- Rinse off mixture with a soft sponge and cold water.
Remember the rule: the fight against acne should go constantly. Don’t give acne any chance to win. Always use face washes for acne prone.
