There are many different homemade brown sugar facial scrub recipes. You can try all of them or just use the one which is suitable for your skin type. Nice choice should be a brown sugar and olive oil scrub if you have dry skin. A great option for oily skin should be a sugar scrub with lemon.

My favorite recipe is a sugar scrub with orange juice. It is very gentle and it smells so delicious! No doubt you should refrain from using this scrub if you are allergic to oranges, or you don’t like the odor like that. Well, it occurs quite rare.

I don’t know any person who does not like a wonderful orange scent. So I believe that you share my predilection to this recipe. I usually make this orange sugar scrub when preparing fresh juice. A brown sugar is always in my house. Let’s try to make a scrub.


  • 1 Tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp of oatmeal
  • 1 orange

Using oatmeal for this recipe will not spoil the odor and final result. The oatmeal adds softness to the sugar scrub.

Crush up oatmeal and sugar in a coffee grinder for 5-7 seconds or use a food processor (in the mode “pulse”). Chop them apart as oatmeal and sugar have a different structure.

Wash orange and cut it in half. Make an incision of orange flesh by ceramic knife in several places.


Dispense a little of orange juice on the oatmeal and brown sugar and mix them all. Do it until you get a smooth paste.


Do not add too much orange juice at the same time. The mixture should be medium density that can be easily applied to the face.

You can drop in a little olive oil if you have dry skin.

Take away hair and apply a scrub onto your face. Massage your face skin with your fingertips for 3-5 minutes. Leave it on your face for 10 minutes to work.


Orange juice will deliver all the vitamins to your skin and saturate with its aroma.

Then rinse the face with cold water.

You can keep the brown sugar scrub for a few days inside the fridge. Its exfoliating properties will be valid but vitamins and delicious smell may be lost. So don’t do too much scrub and use it all fresh.
