Oatmeal sugar and honey face scrub is one of many variations of brown sugar scrubs. I believe that fans of skin care will appreciate that recipe.
There is no reason to repeat again why I use only brown sugar. I’ve mentioned about that in the article How to Use Sugar for the Face. You don’t need to do the same. You can substitute brown sugar for white sugar and add it to the scrub.
Sometimes I do this scrub using three products: oatmeal, sugar and honey. When I want to make a scrub stronger I add egg shells. Egg shell powder consists of small but very solid grains. It allows you to enhance the effect of exfoliating scrub.
The powder from egg shells I prepare myself and it’s always ready in stock. I collect egg shells for a while … Then warm them up in the oven for several minutes. When shells get dry I put them into the grinder and chop to powder.
I keep the egg shell in a glass jar. Egg shell powder prepared like that can be stored for about one year.
Try to make a scrub with shell and without it. Choose the recipe you like more.
- 1 Tbsp of oatmeal
- 1 Tbsp of brown (or white) sugar
- 1 Tbsp of honey
- 1 tsp of egg shell powder
Put the sugar and oatmeal in a coffee grinder or blender and grind for 5-7 seconds. Do not use coarse sugar for facial scrub. You can injure delicate skin.
Add honey and egg shells.
Thoroughly mix all ingredients. If the mixture is very thick, add some warm water or a few drops of lemon juice or 2-3 drops lemon essential oil (about it in article Lemon Yogurt Mask).
Rub the mixture onto the skin with gentle circular motions. Movement should be easy. Do not put a lot of effort and do not touch the area around the eyes.
Massage the skin for 3-5 minutes.
Then rinse off face scrub with warm water and soft sponge.
It’s necessary to apply a nourishing cream after all.
